The Mexico Rocks Marine Reserve, located to the north of Ambergris Caye, was established in 2015, making it the newest marine reserve in the area. This reserve consists of a network of coral reefs located within the barrier reef, and it is well-known for its excellent snorkeling opportunities.Â
Mexico Rocks is recognized for its diverse marine life and relatively calm waters, making it beginner-friendly. The complex patch reef system features an average depth of eight to twelve feet and is home to an abundance of juvenile fish, turtles, stingrays, and nurse sharks.
